
Pastor Jeremy Matlock
Lead Pastor
Jeremy and his wife Krista moved here from Southern California in 2015 with their 3 kids—Ashtyn, Graham, and Claire. Jeremy has a passion for helping people find their fulfillment in Christ and His purpose. Before coming to Kansas, the couple served the Lord in Russia and China. Jeremy has his MA in New Testament from Talbot Seminary and completed his undergraduate work at Biola University (B.A. Intercultural Studies with a Minor in Bible).
Jeremy enjoys golfing and coaching his kids’ football and baseball teams. He and Krista enjoy being a part of the Hillsboro community and opened Studio 23 in town to give kids an opportunity to learn dance. Jeremy loves a good Superhero movie (Krista too) and salt water taffy.

Pastor Bev Vogel
Children and Family Pastor
Bev has been the Children and Family Pastor at Hillsboro MB since June of 2011, after being part-time with Children’s Ministry at HMBC since 2007. She grew up as a “country girl” outside of Hillsboro and graduated from Tabor College with a BA in Business Education. Teaching and coaching high school students at Central Christian Schools in Hutchinson, Kansas, were her passions before becoming a stay-at-home mom. Bev and her husband, Brad, were married in 1985 and are proud parents of David (daughter-in-law Hanna and granddaughters Claire and Chloe) and Nathan (daughter-in-law Mallea and grandsons Beckham and Conrad). Fun facts: Bev loves taking walks, riding bike, hiking in the mountains, growing plants/flowers, listening to Kathy Troccoli music, playing with her grandkids and eating ice cream!

Pastor Grant Shewey
Youth Pastor
Grant and his wife Lauren got married in June 2015. They have 3 girls: Addilyn, Oakley, and Savannah. Grant graduated from Tabor College in 2015 with a Sports Management/Marketing Degree and Mission Minor. Grant and Lauren enjoy traveling, being in the outdoors, and bike riding together.
Most of Grant’s free time right now is spent helping take care of their 3 little girls. He has a passion for seeing young people surrender their lives to Christ and the transformation that comes from studying God’s Word.

Pastor Ryan Loewen
Worship and Discipleship Pastor
Ryan began serving as pastor of worship and adult discipleship in 2022. Ryan is also currently a professor of theology at Tabor College. Before moving to Kansas, he was an executive pastor in Denver, Colorado. Ryan has Master’s degrees in Theology and Divinity from Denver Seminary, and is currently a Ph.D. candidate through the University of Aberdeen in Scotland, United Kingdom.
He and his wife Rachel currently live in Newton with their daughter Cora. In his free time, Ryan loves spending time going on walks with Rachel, baking bread, and playing guitar.

Sara Rempel
Assistant Worship Leader
Sara and her husband Robert were married in May of 1998. They have 5 kids – Caleb, Austin, Katie, Colton and Ethan. Sara graduated from K-State with a teaching degree in Music and French. After spending 7 years teaching in Miltonvale and Hutchinson, she became a stay-at-home mom. She’s enjoyed subbing for USD 410 and working with Trades of Hope. Traveling, reading, spending time at the lake, and singing (especially Toby Mac and musicals) in the vehicle with her family on road trips are some of her favorite things.





Sonya Fisher
Office Manager
Sonya grew up in Ingalls, a small town in Western Kansas and graduated from Tabor College in 1973 with an Elementary Education degree. She married Mike Fisher in 1973 and had twins in 1978. Sonya taught Kindergarten for 24 years. Her daughter Missy, son-in-law Brian, and their two daughters Lauren and Landry live in Newton, and her son Mike lives in Dacono, Colorado. Sonya loves spending time with her granddaughters, visiting her son in Colorado and scrapbooking.


Brenna Kliewer
Director of Communications
Brenna attended Hesston College and Tabor College, where she graduated from in 2020 with a bachelor’s degree in graphic design. She married Joshua Kliewer in March of 2022 and they currently live in Newton. Brenna enjoys finding different ways to be creative, cooking, and taking care of her houseplants.


Tiffany Miller
Kids Connection Director
Tiffany was raised in Hillsboro and attended school at USD 410 from Kindergarten through 12th grade. After graduation she attended Sidney’s School of Cosmetology and then continued her education at both Hutchinson Community College and Butler Community College, majoring in Early Childhood Education. Tiffany has been involved in Early Childhood Education for over 17 years and has been with Kids Connection for the last 11 years. She has five daughters who keep her on her toes! Taytum, Taryah, Tylee, and twins Teaygan and Trysta. The family also has a dog named Opie. Tiffany and her daughters love to spend as much time as possible outdoors and love to decorate their home for the various holidays throughout the year.
