EASTER 2025
Just Give Us 5 Minutes
You may hear the name Jesus and be reminded of many different things. Maybe a good teacher, a defender of the oppressed, maybe only as the “God” of a church system that you’ve had a bad experience with. This Easter, we want to ask you to consider to open your heart that Jesus could be more than these titles we put on Him.
As the Bible tells in the Gospels, Jesus sat atop a donkey when he rode into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday. This donkey symbolized peace in a world which buzzed so full of chaos and strife, longing for freedom from the Roman Empire; all were looking for a hope, a Messiah. Jesus rode into Jerusalem in this way, only to be slaughtered in a detestable criminal’s fashion, and was laid in a tomb. Three days later, a woman who followed him through his time preaching came to lay spices in his tomb only to find his body gone.
“Mary.”
When Mary Magdalene heard her name she knew it was Jesus. She knew his voice. And she cried “Rabboni!” (Which means teacher). There is only one teacher who can speak to our hearts so clearly. And this is possible because he didn’t just die but rose from the grave. Jesus wants to speak to you as only He can. He wants to give you new life in his resurrection, and he wants to give rest in this hectic world.
Matthew 11:28 says “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
Jesus wants to speak to you personally, to give you his love, and to give you the rest your burdened soul longs for, but first he asks you to come to Him.
How greatly our hearts yearn for you to know that this Easter, and in any season, every moment of your existence, beyond all odds and beyond all doubt. He calls your name in the same way. If you don’t have anywhere to celebrate this, we would love for you to join us at Hillsboro MB church!
And if you're curious why Jesus needed to die, please watch the video below. I think you'll like it.

I wonder how it felt to hear His voice call her name when she thought all hope was lost. Mary Magdalene thought that her teacher was dead. The one who cast out her demons, a man who treated her with love when no one else would dare. Her savior.
